The Disconnect

I wish you’d tell me something

We barely talk anymore

Sitting silent over the phone

I know something is wrong

We lost our connection

I try to include you in my day

Without bringing in the stresses of work

I inquire on what vexes you

You tell me nothing

But everything you don’t say

Lets me know that you’re hurt

I feel like I don’t know you anymore

And maybe I’m the reason

For some of those bridges burned

Maybe I’ve pushed too hard

For you to let me in

Maybe I’m the reason

For your hurt feelings

Maybe I’m not what you need

Maybe its better if I just

Pick my heart up and leave….
